Notice

    We would like to hear from The Society's State Deputy Chieftains who are hosting MacGregor Clan tents at any of the Scottish Games for the 2007 - 2008 seasons.  We see the use of this mailing list as a good opportunity to spread the word of where MacGregor's will be making a presence.  Provide us with your schedule of events and we'll list them in the next mailing.  (Send information to .) There will be a MacGregor presence will be at the events listed here.

    We welcome your submittal of a brief summary of the success of your event to encourage others to attend a future MacGregor/Scottish event.

Upcoming Events

Payson, Utah
    July 11-12, 2008 - Clan Gregor will be present at the 25th Annual Payson Scottish Festival to be held at Memorial Park.

Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
    September 20, 2008 - Clan Gregor will be the honored clan at the Charleston Scottish Games and Highland Gathering at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, SC.  The ACGS Chieftain, , will be the honored guest.

Atlanta, Georgia
    October 17-19, 2008 - Clan Gregor will be the honored clan at the Stone Mountain Highland Games at Stone Mountain Park a short drive northeast of Atlanta.  The Chief of the Clan Gregor, Sir Malcolm MacGregor of MacGregor, Bart., 24th Chief of Clan Gregor will be the honored guest.

Chattanooga, Tennessee
    October 23-25, 2008 - The ACGS Annual Gathering:  Sir Malcolm MacGregor of MacGregor, 7th Baronet, 24th Chief of Clan Gregor will be in attendance at the Gathering.  Members are encouraged to attend the Games and then take a couple of days to stroll up to the Gathering.  See the Spring Letter and the Hotel Reservation Form.

Gulfport, Mississippi
    November 8-9, 2008 - The ACGS will be at the 23rd Annual Highland Games at the Harrison County Fairgrounds Pavilion.  The gates will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days, and the Ceilidh will held on Saturday night starting at 5:30 p.m.  In addition to the traditional Pipe Bands and athletic and highland dancing competitions, there will be jousting by The Knights of Valour, along with a 5K and 1 mile kilted run and Celtic wrestling.  For those who are so inclined, all the casinos on the coast are up and running.  For additional information and directions visit their website or contact , the State Deputy Chieftain for Mississippi.

Charlottesville Virginia
    October 2009 - Sir Malcolm MacGregor of MacGregor, 7th Baronet, 24th Chief of Clan Gregor will be leading a gathering of MacGregors, and friends of MacGregors in celebration of the 100th Gathering of the American Clan Gregor Society.  Plans are to include the following:

Edinburgh, Scotland
    [Gathering 2009 logo with the slogan A celebration of the contribution made by the clans to the culture and history of Scotland]July 25-26, 2009 the Clan Gregor Society and American Clan Gregor Society will participate in The Gathering 2009 to held in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh.  It will be a celebration of the contribution made by the clans to the culture and history of Scotland.  It aims to be the largest international gathering of the clans ever held, and is one of the signature events of the Homecoming Scotland initiative.  The Gathering will take the form of a classic highland games and will feature a clan parade up the Royal Mile followed by a unique commemorative clan pageant to be held on the Edinburgh Castle esplanade.  His Royal Highness Prince Charles is to be Patron of The Gathering 2009.  See the FAQ which addresses topics of interest to potential participants:  What should I wear to the event?  Possible items to bring to the event  Will there be parking available at the event?  What should I expect to find at my clan tent?  How do I get to The Gathering?  Will there be areas under cover if it rains?  You may register - free - to receive more information about this event.
