It represent both traditional knowledge and many years of research. It has occasionally been possible to attribute a file to a named individual but in most cases the folders are composite collections from many sources and these are attributed to me in my capacity as curator and general editor.

On June 29, 1817, MacGregor led a ragtag band of troops to a victory over the Spanish garrison that was in control of Amelia Island.  The Spanish were caught completely by surprise. General MacGregor's shrewd plan of attack resulted in only one shot being fired - and that was by mistake!  The Capital Scot recommends that you read on!  More at The Prince of Poyais , King of Florida , General Gregorio MacGregor Martí Tovar y Tovar, and Florida's Historic Places: Fernandina and Amelia Island.
